Fall, but Wishing for Winter

We are enjoying all things fall around here!  This top picture is how I found the kids earlier this week... they had made a winter scene and were trying to "sled" down the furniture. Noah fulfilled his baking urge to make a cake roll (it was really good!) and James has devised a way to "technically" make it across the ninja line. There are loggers clearing the lot next to use so we took a walk up the lot to explore their work.

Friday we had an incredibly busy day with lots of company, the Farmington Fair, the youth climate strike (James got up and made a pretty impressive impromptu speech), and processing our honey. We finished the day with our weekly science sessions at the Western Maine Play Museum AND snuck in a local escape room!  It was exhausting, but so FUN!

Boothbay Getaway 2019!

We have had an amazing relaxing get away with friends this past weekend.  We had to travel to Boothbay to do it, but it was SO worth it! Group meals, waking up next to the water, ocean exploring, hearing the kids playing inside and out despite the poor weather.  It was a much needed rejuvenating weekend away and we can't wait until next year!!

Benjamin Turns 8!!

Somehow, Ben has turned 8!  Ben is a strong guy who craves physical contact, but also loves his space. He is so kind hearted and is always thinking of kind things to do for others.  He is amazing at helping to get chores or whatever less glamorous job needs to get done without complaint.  He is turning into an amazing reader and his need for instant gratification is fueling that.  He is starting to get impatient at the chapter books we read him at bedtime, so he is reading ahead without us.  Currently he is reading both the Dragon Masters and Eerie Elementary series.  I would guess before long he will be on to more challenging chapter books!  Ben loves building with legos, playing soccer, basketball, baseball, swimming, and skiing.  We can't wait to see what this next year brings!
