Concerts and Battleship Cove

The kids had their end of year concerts this week and it is amazing to see how much progress they make in just a year!  We have mostly wrapped up the school year and have moved on to more fun/playing/exploring for the summer.  I needed to make a trip to IKEA partly to furnish Noah's now almost complete room.  As it just so happens, Battleship Cove is down the road from the one in Massachusetts. As a wonderful end to this year's study of WWII, ending with the anniversary of D-Day, we got to explore the USS Massachusetts and the other amazing subs, boats, and vehicles they have there.  It is always so exciting to see the history they learn come alive for them to touch and see. 

Ben's Play and Spring Outdoor Activities (FINALLY!)

The Children's Stage Adventures came to the Wilton elementary schools this week and Ben (surprisingly) was so excited to be part of it.  He played a sheep in a play based on, "The Boy Who Cried Wolf". He loved being on stage, sinning, and can't wait to do it again next year.

We celebrated what would have been Grandpa's 74th birthday last week and the kids spent the day planning the celebration.  We have been spending most of our time during the week at baseball or softball games and practices. There aren't many pictures of the actual games, but the kids are enjoying keeping busy playing in the woods while their siblings are on the field.

Our layer chicks are starting to wander outside the coop and the meat birds are refusing to go out, but at least we can say we tried! Grammy came to visit this week and we made our first hike of the season into Poplar Falls and some of the kids even got into the water... it was not warm BTW. 

School and More Basement Progress

Believe it or not, we do have school sometimes, but it usually isn't picture worthy.  Here are a few highlights of what we have been working on. Noah and James have been studying the Deep Water Horizon explosion and the environmental effects of oil spills. We have dissected owl pellets, studied clean water, and even got in some imaginative play about being astronaut pilots under the dining room table.

We are also making exciting progress on finishing Noah's basement bedroom.  He is excited and eager to paint:)  We are also getting outside more to enjoy the backyard before all of the greenery returns and needs upkeep.
