Wasps & the First Day of School 2019

We discovered a few wasps nests in our pool area this week and the kids (minus Ben) were more than happy to don their bee suits and help get rid of them!

This week we also have started our 5th year of home schooling!  It feels earlier than normal, but everyone was ready to jump back into things and we are taking a lengthy trip again this fall and want to make sure we get a good start in before then:)  

Ben's 8th Birthday Party

To celebrate Ben's birthday this year he was insistent on a Harry Potter theme... naturally, everyone else was excited about this too and they got to work planning with him.  Everyone helped to make wands, Noah played Olivander and even led a spells class during the party.  Ben created an impressive home for Aragog under the basement stairs. We put a picture of Moaning Myrtle inside the toilet cover and James is telling us that either Myrtle goes or he will;) It was a super fun day and we already can't wait to have another Harry Potter party!  

Clearwater Camp- aka. week of relaxation while everyone else goes back to school- 2019

The pictures tell the story here.  We had a glorious, relaxing, stress-free week before getting back in to school.  We spent time with friends, went out in the boat, kayak/canoed, floated, played a multi-day game of Risk, ate meals on the dock, read, learned cribbage, played king of the float, and really just enjoyed life.  Life was really rough on this vacation;)
