Sugarloaf Trip 2020

There isn't much to say about our trip to Sugarloaf this year other than we had an awesome, fun, and relaxing time.  The weather was great, we have finally found a condo that fits our family comfortably (and we can afford), and our last day was a wind-hold so we all got vouchers to come back another time this year. It was super weird to eat at the Bag for lunch without all of our ski stuff on. We did finally settle the debate we have had for years: the Bag burger is just as good even if you didn't spend the day skiing;) 

February Vacation Trip to the Ocean- Maine Maritime Museum & Popham Beach

These days homeschool isn't as flexible as it once was given our daily responsibilities at various schools for various classes and groups. So we are excited when there is no public school and we can take some field trip days.

This week started with a really cool presentation by Mr. Drew and his animals at the Western Maine Play Museum. I didn't get many pictures because there were so many people that I just listened from the hall, but the kids learned about lots of different animals they usually only get to see/learn about on Wild Krats.

On Gabe's day off this week we headed for the coast.  We have been trying to make time for a trip to the Maine Maritime Museum in Bath for years.  This year during the months of January and February admission is free to the museum, so we took advantage! The kids learned so much and were able to have some hands on experience to what they already knew.  We will definitely be coming back in the summer.

Since we were already so close and had our winter gear, we continued on down the road to Popham Beach State Park.  It just happened to be low tide so we spent the rest of our day exploring the ocean floor and the land bridge that gives access to the island. We had bags to pick up garbage, but there was none which I found pretty crazy. Instead we spent some quiet time with nature on the island and the kids used their 4 senses (we left out taste) to make some observations/poetry about their surroundings. It was an awesome time at the beach (in February)!

Valentine's Day, 100s Day, & Gabe's Birthday All in One

We had an exciting day today!  We celebrated Valentine's Day, Gabe's birthday, & the 100th day of school all at once.  In fairness, our 100th day of school was over a week ago, but this was our first opportunity to fit it in. We even ended the day with a visit to the play museum to try out the new darkroom exhibit. We are all tired, but happy to have had some time today to celebrate and play with legos.

Skiing, Basketball, & School

These pictures are all pretty self explanatory and sum up our last month pretty well.  Noah had a few ski meets at Black Mountain and we were all happy to ski alpine when it wasn't race time. The kids all enjoyed watching the man lighting the fire with an accelerant, but at least they were smart enough to keep their distance;) Noah made special animal quesadillas for dinner one night, Audrey & Ben dressed up as a mechanic and a ghost for SnowCats, James completed his 1,000 piece Titanic puzzle, and Audrey got to check out the new costumes in the nature room at the Western Maine Play Museum.
